We are looking for someone who has all the HR and People Coordination basics down and is energized by supporting people projects, HR systems and data in a values-driven, people-centered, entrepreneurial multi-national organization. As part of our People Team, you will report to the Sr. Manager - People. Port Blakely has adopted a hybrid work environment (working from home and office) and the role will primarily office out of Seattle, Washington with some time spent in our Tumwater, Washington office as needed.

Port Blakely manages forestlands in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and New Zealand.

What you'll do:

  • Provide an extraordinary employee lifecycle experience through assisting with recruiting, new hire onboarding, job description management, employee requests, and talent development
  • Act as the first point of contact for all employees on all things HRIS, Payroll and Benefits, and provide the necessary guidance/actions/support to help employees benefit enrollments, compensation, and data be accurate
  • Support the design and delivery of a broad slate of People-team projects or policies, from benefits offerings, performance and talent development, and hiring practices
  • Partner with our payroll and finance team to efficiently process payroll and benefits enrollments and troubleshoot any payroll issues. Conduct HRIS system audits and ensure HRIS and payroll processes are operating efficiently and providing an excellent service to our employees.
  • Assist with the execution of our annual benefits enrollment and administration, our performance and rewards planning, and recruitment efforts
  • Support the Chief People Office and the Sr. Manager - People in preparing materials for the People and Culture Committee of the Board of Directors
  • Stay current on and ensure legal compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Assist with all HR compliance and HR operations such as employment or benefit administration in our HRIS, audits, reporting, EEO reporting, OSHA reporting, leave management, new hire employment paperwork, and COBRA processing in collaboration with the Sr. Manager – People
    and the payroll team

We'd love to hear from people with:

  • Three+ years of progressive HR coordinator or HR Specialist experience in human resources, including demonstrated competence in HRIS administration, payroll support, benefits administration, and employee data analytics
  • Ability to communicate with employees at all levels, including executive leadership, and provide exceptional customer service in response to employee requests and people team initiatives.
  • Ability to work and operate independently, using sound judgement to make decisions, while juggling multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Proven success in project coordination
  • Ability to present to and facilitate small and large groups
  • Ability to diagnose problems using strategic thinking skills and identify and drive appropriate solutions
  • Experience managing vendor relationships
  • Interest in knowing all employees, learning the business, and working collaboratively and being willing to pitch in as needed
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US employment law (and interest in learning New Zealand) including state law in WA and OR and PHR or SHRM-CP or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in small/mid-size organizations ideal
  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and protect employee privacy
  • Interest in getting global experience in all aspects of the employee experience and all HR specialties – compensation & benefits, talent & organization development, learning, HR operations, talent acquisition

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: Min $70,252 | Mid $85,005 | Max $99,758
  • Other compensation includes, but is not limited to, bonuses, profit-sharing, employer 401k match, or other forms of compensation that would be offered to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or hourly pay wage scale.
