Port Blakely US Forestry – Tumwater, WA has an opening for a Resources Intern. The purpose of the Resources Intern is to provide support for a wide variety of forest resources projects to obtain experience and knowledge from an industry leader of forestland management. This position will get to work with our GIS and Land Records teams. Ordinarily, this position would work from our Tumwater, WA office, but due to COVID-19, the majority of the work will need to be done remotely. Field work and in-person collaborations will take place when we can safely do so.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct GIS spatial audit. Update streams, roads, corners, ownership, stand and unit boundaries
  • Map PB mineral rights and easements for Contracts goal
  • GIS road edits, process and apply GPS data, harvest unit depletions, acquisition mapping, GIS analysis and reporting, ad hoc maps

Successful candidates will have:

  • Completed one or more GIS (Esri Software) courses and currently enrolled in a degree program for forestry, natural resources, or other related field
  • Familiarity with forest products industry is a plus.
