Port Blakely Tree Farms LP

Intermediate Forest

Port Blakely's intermediate forests span from 20 years to over 70 years old. If a developing forest becomes too crowded, then all the trees slow down i n growth because they are competing for sunlight, water and nutrients.

Foresters use a process called thinning to remove diseas ed and suppressed trees, so the other trees can grow faster and healthier.

Click the trees the forester should cut during thinning.
