Jeff Nuss

Jeff Nuss is Managing Partner of Handprint Partners and a senior advisor and impact investor focused on advanced materials and energy, the built environment, and natural resources.

Prior to founding Handprint Partners, Jeff was the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of GreenWood Resources, Inc., a global timberland investment organization. With more than 30 years of experience in business development, management, and investment, he led the growth of GreenWood Resources into a global forestry investment platform managing approximately 741,000 acres and nearly $2 billion in investments across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.

Following TIAA’s acquisition of a majority interest in 2012, GreenWood became an affiliate of Nuveen, TIAA’s asset management business, where Jeff oversaw timberland investments for TIAA’s General Account and for global institutional investors seeking diversification, climate impact, and sustainable returns.

Jeff currently serves on the Boards of Heartwood Biomass, the World Forestry Center (where he serves as Chair), and the National Forest Foundation. He previously served on the boards of Sustainable Northwest, Sustainable Northwest Woods, the California Board of Forestry’s Joint Institute on Wood Products Innovation, and the National Alliance of Forest Owners.

Jeff holds both a B.S. in Bio-Resources Engineering and an M.S. in Resource Management and Policy from Oregon State University, and he completed the Advanced Leadership Program at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
