Chair of the Board

René Ancinas

René Ancinas has served as Chair of the Board since 2015 and served as CEO of Port Blakely from 2010 to 2025.

A fourth-generation Eddy family member, René played a key role in establishing a sustainable governance structure for the family business that has become a model for other multigenerational family-owned companies. From 2000 to 2004, René served as the company’s first Family Council President, strengthening alignment between ownership and management, a principle that continues to guide Port Blakely today.

René joined Port Blakely in 2005, gaining experience in the company’s forestry and real estate operations before becoming COO in 2008. He stepped into the CEO role in 2010 and later became Chair & CEO in 2015, leading Port Blakely through significant transformation and growth. As CEO, René championed strong governance, values-based leadership, and a consistent focus on the company’s purpose: to grow lasting value for the environment, communities, and shareholders. His collaborative leadership helped shape Port Blakely’s values-driven culture and long-term success.

René has served on the boards of NatureBridge, the Seattle Symphony, where he was Board Chair from 2018 to 2021, the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO), and the Washington Roundtable. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in clarinet performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and an Executive MBA from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
