Susan Barratt
Family Director
Susan Barratt serves as a Family Director. A fourth-generation member of the Eddy family, she brings a deep understanding of Port Blakely's history, values, and long-standing commitment to family ownership.
Born and raised in Olympia, Washington, Susan gained early experience at Port Blakely during high school and college, working in a variety of roles for the family enterprise.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in organizational communications from the University of Portland in 2000. After a year in corporate event planning, she pursued her passion for the culinary arts, earning her culinary degree and chef certification. For the next decade, she worked as a pastry chef for a family-owned catering company.
In 2015, Susan transitioned to small-business ownership with her husband, Tyler. Together they opened Bear Prairie Kennels in Washougal, Washington, in 2019, providing overnight dog boarding and serving the local community.
Susan served on the Eddy Family Council for seven years, including two as Family Council president. During her tenure, she guided strategic planning, professional development, and committee work, strengthening family governance and engagement.
She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the International Boarding and Pet Services Association, and is a veterinary assistant and longtime volunteer with Sacred Pawz Animal Rescue.
