Port Blakely CEO Mike Warjone Featured in Puget Sound Business Journal
Port Blakely CEO Mike Warjone was featured in the January/February issue of the Puget Sound Business Journal, where he shared his perspective on forestry, leadership, and the future of working forests.
Mike grew up in McCleary, Washington, a small town surrounded by forests. That early connection to the woods shaped his career and continues to influence how he leads today. Over the years, he has worked across our operations, from field roles to senior leadership, gaining firsthand experience in forest management and long-term stewardship.
Port Blakely manages more than 150,000 acres in Washington and Oregon and 92,000 acres in New Zealand. Across all of our lands, we focus on growing healthy, productive forests that will serve communities for generations.
Demand for housing and renewable materials continues to grow, and wood remains one of the most sustainable building options available. Innovations like mass timber and responsible participation in carbon markets are expanding the role forests can play in supporting both economic vitality and environmental goals.
Forestry is long-cycle work. The trees planted today may not be harvested for decades. That reality shapes how we manage our lands and how we think about the future.
We are proud to continue our commitment to sustainable forestry and responsible stewardship.
