On September 24, 2025, Port Blakely had the honor of seeing two scholarships awarded at Grays Harbor College’s annual Scholarship Social. The Chris Lunde Forest Resource Management Scholarship and the Port Blakely / Cascade Family Motorcycle Club Scholarship reflect our commitment to education, sustainability, and the next generation of forestry leaders.
The Chris Lunde Forest Resource Management Scholarship
This one-time $4,000 award was created by Port Blakely to honor the retirement and career of long-time Director of U.S. Forestry Operations, Chris Lunde. Chris began his career with Port Blakely in 1996 as District Manager, was promoted to Harvest Manager in 2011, and served as Director of Operations from 2020 until his retirement. His nearly three decades of leadership, integrity, and dedication have left a lasting legacy within the company and the broader forestry industry. The scholarship supports a Grays Harbor College student pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Forest Resource Management.
The Port Blakely / Cascade Family Motorcycle Club Scholarship
Through the generosity of the Cascade Family Motorcycle Club (CFMC), Port Blakely is honored to offer a $3,000 annual scholarship, renewable through 2030. This award supports full-time students pursuing degrees in Forest Resource Management, BAS, Natural Resources, or Engineering.
Port Blakely’s partnership with CFMC spans a multi-decade long relationship with our Central Washington Tree Farm, where the club enjoys recreational access to the property. In return, CFMC members actively support our land management efforts by helping monitor the property, reporting issues, and promoting responsible recreation. Their decision to fund a scholarship in Port Blakely’s name highlights the strength of this collaboration and our shared commitment to caring for the land, sustainability, and community engagement.
