Port Blakely Communities
When Port Blakely established our real estate division – Port Blakely Communities – in 1990, rapid growth in the Puget Sound Region was driving high demand for housing. Our vision was to create an urban village centered around New Urbanism principles of sustainability, walkability, community, and economic vitality. Plans soon emerged for a mixed-use community spanning 2,200 acres in Issaquah where people would live, work and play.
More than 30 years later, the vibrant community of Issaquah Highlands has become a model master-planned community – home to more than 12,000 residents, parks, open space, shops, restaurants, community center, fire station, schools, and hospital – and an award-winning sustainable development.
Port Blakely began winding down our real estate division in 2013 to focus on our forestry business. In 2021, we completed our role in Issaquah Highlands and transitioned its governance to the community. We know the residents share our commitment to stewardship, ensuring that as the community flourishes, it will continue to contribute toward a healthier world.
